ICI Membership
Membership in the Investment Casting Institute is open to any organization involved in manufacturing investment castings or supplying products and/or services to investment casters. Membership is available in three categories: regular, affiliate and associate.
Casting (Regular) Members
This category consists of manufacturers of investment castings. Regular members vote on articles of incorporation and all matters and motions proposed at membership meetings, and for directors who are regular members.
Supplier (Affiliate) Members
This category consists of suppliers of equipment, products and services to the industry. Affiliate members vote only in relation to special assessments with Regular members, and for directors who are Affiliate members.
Associate (Casting or Supplier) Member
This category consists of organizations that do not manufacture in North America, which is defined as Canada, the United States of America and the Republic of Mexico. Associate members that meet the qualifications of either a Regular or Affiliate member are designated as an Associate (Regular) or an Associate (Affiliate) Member. Members in these designations may not vote at general meetings, may not attend Management Meetings, but may vote on special assessments brought before the general assembly. Associate Members may have representatives to act as full members of committees but shall not be eligible to serve as a member of the Board of Directors or as an Officer of the Institute.
Alumni Membership
A new alumni membership category in the Investment Casting Institute is currently available to retired persons who wish to remain active in the Institute.
Institute Executive Director Michael Perry noted the new membership category serves a dual purpose. "As a part of the Institute's strategic review process, we learned from member companies that key employees often want to stay connected after retirement, and this addresses that need," he said. "In addition, it allows the Institute the benefit of very experienced people who have valuable input which can extend beyond retirement."
To be eligible for alumni membership in the Institute, the applicant must be a retired person who wishes to maintain an active role within the Institute, and was once employed by a company eligible for regular or affiliate membership. Eligibility is determined by the Board of Directors on a case-by-case basis at the board's discretion. In determining an applicant's eligibility for alumni membership, the board may consider, among other things, the applicant's past participation in the investment casting industry, and his or her proposed, prospective role in the Institute.
While alumni members may not vote or hold office, they are eligible to receive INCAST Magazine; attend technical and management meetings at discounted member prices; and participate on Institute committees. Current annual membership dues for alumni members is $75.
Governance
The Institute is governed by a board of directors elected by voting delegates, who are appointed by the Institute's members. While the majority of the Institute membership comes from the United States and Canada, membership also includes investment casters and suppliers headquartered around the world.
